NEWS: PLYM NEURO RECEIVES GENEROUS IN MEMORY DONATION

Plym Neuro Rehabilitation Unit were recently presented with a cheque for £1,042 to benefit their amazing work, in memory of Marilyn Burton.

The money was donated by Graham Burton and Janice Westwell, who both work for Livewell. The funds were collected from donations made in memory of Graham’s wife and Janice’s mum, Marilyn, who passed away in April following a sudden and quick battle with cancer.

Marilyn also worked for Livewell and retired from Plym Neuro in November 2021 after many years with our organisation, since her early days at Moorhaven Hospital.

In March, Marilyn found herself back with Plym Neuro, this time as a patient, for a period of rehabilitation. Sadly, Marilyn became very unwell and never made it home from the ward.

Graham and Janice were so grateful to all of the people in Plym Neuro who went above and beyond to help and support themselves as well as Marilyn that they wanted to do something to thank them.

Janice said: “Mum was always treated with the highest respect, dignity and compassion, and everyone did their very best for not only mum, but for dad and I as well.

“Our words will never be enough to express how we feel and show them all how truly thankful we are to each and every one of them all.

“Livewell should be so proud of this amazing team.”

Michelle Thomas, Chief Executive, said: “Marilyn was a well-loved and respected member of the Livewell family, and we are deeply saddened by her passing.

“It was an honour to have been able to care for Marilyn during her illness and give her the love and support that she showed so many others during her career.

“We’re very grateful to Graham, Janice and their family for their generous donation in Marilyn’s memory, which will help to support others being looked after by our amazing Plym Neuro Rehabilitation Unit.”
