This Sunday, five incredible individuals will lace up their running shoes to take on the iconic London Landmarks Half Marathon in aid of the Livewell Foundation, each with their own inspiring reason to run—and one with a fridge on his back.
All funds raised from the wonderful runners’ challenge will go directly to the Livewell Foundation based in Plymouth which provides crucial support to those in need.
The Livewell Foundation exists to create meaningful change, helping people across Plymouth, South Hams, and West Devon lead healthier, happier lives. As the charitable arm of Livewell Southwest, a leading independent social enterprise providing integrated health and social care services, the Foundation channels vital funding into projects that have a lasting and transformative impact on local communities.
At its core, the Livewell Foundation is dedicated to tackling social isolation, improving overall health and wellbeing, and preventing ill health. Through targeted grants and strategic support, the Foundation empowers organisations and initiatives that make a real difference, ensuring that individuals and families can access the resources they need to thrive.
Beyond community funding, the Foundation plays a pivotal role in enhancing Livewell Southwest’s clinical services by supporting specialist equipment, advanced staff training, and vital amenities for both staff and patients - providing enhancements that go beyond what is covered by the NHS. Every pound distributed by the Foundation is an investment in a healthier, stronger, and more connected community.
Austin Marshall, Lydia Helyer, Abi Hooper, Tony Phipps, and Chris Davies—Chairman of the Livewell Foundation—will join thousands of others pounding the pavements of the capital, passing some of the city’s most famous sights as they raise vital funds and awareness for health and wellbeing, a cause close to their hearts.
Tony Phipps, already known for his creative fundraising efforts, is once again going above and beyond—quite literally—by running the entire 13.1-mile route with a fridge strapped to his back. Tony’s unique challenge is designed to represent the often-invisible weight of mental health struggles, a cause he’s long championed. His fridge runs have already gained traction across the country, and Sunday’s event will see him joined on the course by a very special running companion—his old friend and Foundation Chairman, Chris Davies.
Chris said:
"I’m immensely proud to be running alongside Tony, who’s not only one of the most determined people I know, but also someone who puts his heart and soul into supporting others. Taking on this challenge with Tony and the rest of our fantastic team of runners is an honour—and I know the funds we raise will make a real difference in the communities we serve."
Also running for the Livewell Foundation are:
- Austin Marshall, a close supporter of the Foundation whose dedication to helping others is matched only by his passion for pushing himself physically and mentally.
- Lydia Helyer, a lead Occupational Therapist who works within Livewell Southwest and is running to champion wellbeing in every sense of the word—physical, mental, and emotional.
- Abi Hooper, a Frailty Practitioner at Livewell Southwest and an energetic and compassionate force.
Each runner has been training hard, overcoming their own personal hurdles in preparation for the big day, all united by a shared commitment to making a difference.
Together, the team has already raised an incredible £2,995—and counting—for the Livewell Foundation. Every donation supports the Foundation’s mission to improve health, tackle social isolation, and fund life-changing projects across Plymouth and the South Hams, and West Devon.
Charity Manager Hayley Everett said:
"We are so proud of every single one of our runners. Whether they’re carrying a fridge or simply carrying the hopes of the communities we support, they are each making a huge impact. Their dedication, energy, and spirit truly reflect everything the Livewell Foundation stands for."
